Josh Koach, Owner Boo’s Bug Stoppers

Josh is the founder of Boo’s Bug Stoppers, LLC. After graduating from Robert Morris University in 2004 with a Degree in Accounting, Josh began his professional career working with Deloitte & Touche, LLP in Pittsburgh, PA as an auditor.  While he gained valuable accounting and business experience there, he found himself aspiring to go into business on his own.

In the Fall of 2005, Josh took the Controller position with W.D. Wright Contracting, Inc., where again he gained valuable accounting and business experience, working hand in hand with the company’s Executive Officers.  While working at W.D. Wright Contracting, Inc., Josh found himself with the opportunity to start his side business.

After lots of research and guidance from a family friend mentor who was retired from the pest control industry, Josh obtained his pesticide applicators license through the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s Penn State program and opened Boo’s Bug Stoppers, LLC in 2006.

Josh began to build Boo’s Bug Stoppers from the ground up based off of one simple rule…The Golden Rule.  He wanted to make sure every effort was made to “treat people right.” With The Golden Rule as the cornerstone of his business, Boo’s Bug Stoppers, LLC continued to steadily grow, and in 2010, Boo’s Bug Stoppers had transformed from a side business to a full time operation.

Today, Josh continues to be heavily involved in all aspects of Boo’s Bug Stoppers and is excited to tackle all the challenges that tomorrow has to bring.

When Josh is not working, he enjoys spending time with his family, and is an active member at  North Sewickley Presbyterian Church.

Frequently Asked Questions about Exterminators and Pest Control

If it rains after the treatment, will we need to retreat?2021-07-04T14:01:41-05:00

As many of our exterior treatments are applied as a fine mist, it only takes about 20 minutes for the product to dry. Once the product is dry, it is set up and ready to withstand the normal weather patterns for the days, weeks, and months to come.  Our technicians will keep an eye on the radar, and make a decision as to whether or not the product will have adequate time to dry.  This is a common concern, but remember, as a valued customer, we provide you peace of mind in knowing you will have a re-treatment warranty in place if need be.

The forecast is calling for rain the day of my treatment. Do I need to reschedule?2021-07-04T14:00:50-05:00
Due to the fact, that weathermen are often wrong, we usually keep jobs scheduled and evaluate the weather on the day of treatment. If it is raining we will not treat the outside of your home.  The product does need time to dry after application in order to set up properly. However, if any inside work is needed, we will usually keep the scheduled appointment to complete the inside portion of the work.  We will then reschedule the exterior portion of the treatment for the next available date we are in the area.  As many of our customers are busy with work, family, and hobbies, we have found that this method works best for both the customer and our scheduling efficiency.
Does this treatment come with a warranty?2021-07-04T13:59:57-05:00

Typically, all treatments come with some type of re-treatment warranty. This depends on the type of problem you have and the type of products used to treat the problem. Warranties will be confirmed by the technician at the time of treatment.  If your pest issue comes back within your warranty period, we will return and retreat your problem at no additional cost to you.

How long does pest control treatment take?2021-07-04T12:33:54-05:00

Usually, treatments for average-sized homes are completed within 45 minutes to 1 hour. Initial treatments can take longer depending on inspection time needed or Q&A time with the customer. We will always make time to answer and address all customer questions/concerns.  After all, our main goal is to provide our customers with complete peace of mind.

What pests are included in the maintenance plan?2021-07-04T12:29:22-05:00

In short, anything you want to be included. Boos will customize your service based on your wants and needs.  Typically though, general maintenance plans are broken down into three types of treatments:

  • Crawling Insects
  • Flying/Stinging Insects
  • Rodents

We tailor a maintenance plan that covers any combination of these categories.

What does Pest Control Cost?2021-07-04T12:27:42-05:00

This general question is tricky to answer because there are so many pest problems that we treat. Depending on the type and severity of the problem you have determines the procedure we use and price of service.  When you call into the office, all it takes is a few simple questions, and we are able to give you very accurate price quotes over the phone.  Call today for a speedy fast price quote.

How does Boo’s Bug Stoppers treat Stinkbugs?2021-07-04T12:26:56-05:00

Boo has an effective stinkbug treatment, but this needs to be done at a particular time of the year (typically late September or early October) when stinkbugs are outside, getting ready to come in to overwinter. As there is still not that “miracle cure” for stinkbugs where we can do a single treatment and guarantee you won’t see another stinkbug in your home, we have had outstanding success in stinkbug prevention.  Most customers who’ve had us perform a stinkbug treatment want it done every fall.

We used to be served by Doctor Dead Bug, can you help us?2021-07-04T12:25:41-05:00

Doctor Dead Bug was one of the biggest locally owned pest control companies in our area.  They were recently sold to a company that is servicing their former customers from outside of our area. The new company does not provide the same locally-focused attention as Doctor Dead Bug did.

The new company also provides Integrated Pest Management as the primary offering. This is set up to provide an efficient delivery mechanism for the larger geographically diverse company that now ‘owns’ these customers. This is having a service level difference show up for these previous customers.  This is especially true in the restaurant, fast food, bar, and lounge business where flies and other pests are extremely annoying to customers.

Boo’s Bug Stoppers prides itself in offering customers the ability to customize the approach taken and the products used. At Boo’s we want to make sure that you are getting the service level effectiveness that you are used to.  We will work with you on things like the time of services, the products used, and follow-up treatments to guarantee results to these former Dr. Dead Bug Customers and others.

Pest Control companies require a longterm contract. Is this really necessary?2021-07-04T11:57:32-05:00

Unfortunately, several pest control companies, especially large companies, will send a salesman to your home/business in an attempt to lock you into a long-term contract. Based on our knowledge of the industry, these companies will follow up their professional sales pitch, with sub-par performance and/or technicians.

At Boo’s Bug Stoppers, we do not make any of our customers sign contracts. We are confident in the quality service we provide and the quality technicians we train.  Once you start using Boo’s Bug Stoppers, you will not want to leave us for another company. Therefore, No Contracts Needed.  If you want to discontinue service for any reason, you just say so.  It’s that simple.

Does Boo recommend a preventative maintenance plan?2021-07-04T11:56:09-05:00

There are certain situations we recommend a preventative maintenance plan; however, we advise our customers on a case-by-case basis. We do not offer just a “one size fits all” type of plan.  Our recommendation is always based individually on customer wants and/or needs.

Are the products Boo’s uses safe for my kids and pests?2021-07-04T11:55:10-05:00

At Boo’s Bug Stoppers we always take very careful consideration when using pesticides and rodent control products in and around a customer’s home, family, pets, and business.  All products we use are designed to be applied in and around the home with children and pets in mind.  If a particular treatment requires customer precaution for any reason, we will notify you before the treatment is performed.
